Sam's Space

Monday, June 13
Today is a sad day my bloggers, today is my last post and I have picked today's post to be names Moral monday's. In this post I will be discussing the whole moral of the book that I was able to come up with.

Over all the book was an exciting and action filled book title, but aside the thrill this books moral or theme that struck me was very moving, and open my eyes for days to come. When reading this book the theme that came to mind right away was that us wealthier people living in a developed country are lucky to have access to essential resources. During the whole book Katniss is faced with poverty and is also required to take care of her family even if it means risking her life. Being a young teenager, it was surprising the emotional impact this had on me, considering I was unable to relate as I am not obligated to work hard for my ressources. After reading this story it has really gave me a much wiser look on things as there is always some one out there who has it worst then I do.

Hey there for the ones reading this blog, i have deiced that today I will give this post the corny name of "Sam's Sincere Sundays". In this post I will be talking about thoughts and evaluating specific characters.

Through out this book, there have been large amount of characters considering the main plot of the story takes place during the Hunger Games. While reading this book. I was really able to feel a great resemblance with one of the books character, that one being Katniss. I found it easy to relate to Katniss, reason being, Katniss always trying to do the best for her family. Despite Katniss's extensive care for her family, I was always a caring and generous person, Katniss was very similar to my mom just not as  patient. Through out the book katiniss is held responsible for defeating all odds, wich is some thing that motivated me as well wich has made this book much easier to relate wich I enjoyed.

Thoughtful Thursday's once again! I no I have already posted today but deiced that my next chapter choice really ties in with the first chapter of the book.

Summary

Chapter two, after the unsuspecting draw of Katniss's younger sibling Prim, Katniss's is now forced to spare her sister from the ruthless games by taking her spot as district twelves contestant. Once decided, the draw of district  twelve's male players had been done, and suprisingly Peeta, Katniss's old acquaintance, had been picked. Peeta was a young little boy who generously, provide burnt bread to Katniss despite the punishment he received. So, Katniss now stumped, as she can not imagine killing a boy she'd admire some much.

Thoughts

One word, drama! This chapter has really amped up the book and prepared me for extreme amounts of conflicts. The beging of the chapter was bit slow wich did in fact bother me, but once we got to katniss's little flashback, I was right back into it. Also, the added suspense in this chapter when Prim was first drawn, was great, had me extremely worried. Overall, great chapter, and from now on you can expect postive reviews as I truly feel that this book is only going to get better!

Today I have decided to post some of my thoughts of chapter 1 and come up with some super corny name for todays blog, like Thoughtful Thursdays, and I'll express all my thoughts on the book so far! From now on I will post my thoughts and opinion on chapters I have chosen.

In Chapter one the whole entire chapter has been a bunch of information and flashbacks that is essential to make the book and future events understandable. The book then continues and the explanations have still not stopped. Now, impatient as I am, reading this book with a firm grip on the spine of the book, just waiting for all the promising action and drama. Sadly the whole chapter had been explanation and no action. Personally, knowing that it is in fact the first chapter, so I am forced to keep reading as this book has done a great job keeping me hooked, even during the boring parts! Then finally, some type of excitement! As names are being drawn for the hunger games. Thankfully, this books great ability to keep readers reading, got me through the beginning and we now find out Prim, Katniss's little sister had me picked for the Hunger games! For a first chapter overall thought It was a bit boring because of the excessive talking and explaining, as excepted. Truly a great little twist to end the chapter, and surely has kept me itching to move on too the next chapter!

Theme Questions that are going to get you guys thinking ;)

1. The first and obvious question, what is the theme of the "Hunger Games"?

2. How does the theme effect the plot of the story?

3. Using examples from the book, who does the the theme best relate too?

4. How does Katniss’s relationships reflect the person she is/ and became during the duration of the book?

5. When Peeta says to Katniss “…I want to die myself.. I don’t want the games to change me…” and so on, what does that say about Peeta and the Theme of the book?

6. How does The Capitol display their controlling behavior?

7. Do you feel you can relate to the events Katniss has gone through over the course of the book? Why?

8. Did the Hunger Games change your opinion for everyday situations? If so, How?

9. How would a love relationship like how Peeta feels for Katniss effect you, if you took part in the Hunger Games?

10. If the theme was any different how would that effect the characters of the book?

  2. You know if the theme was different I wouldn't have read the book or even picked as my number one choice. But I can see Katniss being a totally different person if it was different
