Answering Character Questions
1.Which character can you most relate to? Why?
I can relate to Katniss, because I understand how she can be so closed off. She's only open to Gale, and I get that because I know I have that one friend I know I can tell anything and everything too without judgement.
2. Was it wrong for Katniss to pretend to love Peeta during the Games?
I don't believe that Katniss really DID pretend, I believe that she honestly loves Peeta, even though she says it was just a way to play the game. She was devoted to winning, yes, but she wouldn't go that far with it, she definitely has feelings for Peeta.
3.Why do you think Haymitch drinks so much?
I think its Haymitch's way of coping with the devastating outcome of the Hunger Games. Yes, he won, but to win you have to kill, and now that he lives in the Victors Village, safe and sound, he drinks his fears(memories) away.
4. Describe Katniss.
Katniss is very closed off, and distant. She's extremely loyal to her family and (as clearly proven) she would do anything for them, as long as they're safe.
5.What attributes was Katniss showing for taking her sister's place in the Games?
Katniss showed bravery, courage, and her love for her family when she took Prim's place.
6.Describe Katniss and Gale's relationship?
To Katniss, they're hunting partners and the best of friends, but to Gale, i believe that he considers her to be more than friends.
7.What makes Katniss a good tribute?
She's fantastic at hunting, knows basic knowledge of setting up traps and which berries and plants do what, shes brave and not afraid to push herself.
8.Why does Rue remind Katniss of Prim?
Because Rue is the same age and size as Prim, and I think that Katniss sees the innocence of her, and with Rue there, she witnesses what it would be like for Prim if Katniss didn't sacrifice herself.
9.Why does District 12 not clap during the lottery?
They're baffled that someone actually volunteered themselves for the Hunger Games, and they touch their three fingers to their mouths as a sign of respect, and love. It was more meaningful not to clap.
10.Why is Katniss so distant?
I believe she wants to be known as the strong one, since her dad died, she had to take care of the family, and she had to grow up fast. And during the Games, it's better for her to be closed off than open, so her opponents don't know her weaknesses.
